Catherine believes in the power of the helping relationship to transform our lives, and assist us in excelling towards what we want in life. She is committed to an integrative approach, building a customized experience and developing goals collaboratively for successful therapeutic outcomes.
Known for a wide range of experiences, education and skills – and for her great sense of humour – Catherine tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each client, couple, and family. She believes that each of us is the expert in our own lives and the author of our own stories. Her counselling is collaborative in nature, with the client and therapist participating as equal partners in both goal setting and in working together to reach those goals. Catherine employs an integrative approach to therapy, drawing from various modalities including person-centered approach, narrative therapy, solution focused, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, relaxation techniques, stress reduction strategies, and compassionate inquiry. She adapts these approaches based on the unique needs of each client.
In her practice, Catherine focuses on life transitions, stress and burnout, couples, and sex and intimacy issues. She is particularly adept at identifying underlying and root issues, helping to surface old beliefs and patterns. Through a person centered approach, she works towards the goals and objectives set by the client. Some common goals include heightened self-awareness, enhanced communication skills, strengthened relationships, boosted self-esteem, elevated mood, and fostering positive lifestyle changes.
